Organic Peru "Andes Gold" : Being that the only commercial crop in this region of Peru is coffee, you can be sure that every effort is made to insure it will be outstanding. This flavorful cup is mildly acidic and has a clean light to medium body. Its aroma is inviting, and its body is full of flavor. It will continue to delight you with its slightly sweet, nutty finish with no lingering after taste. Andes Gold Coffee from the northwestern slopes of the Andes mountains in Peru is certified organic.

The people of Peru have been growing coffee organically for quite some time. They are both USDA and OCIA certified, and they are strictly monitored by quality control from the local export companies prior to moving the product to North America and Europe. Most of the local plantations are less than one acre and are family run. With most Peruvians having large families, few live stock, and a small fruit crop there is plenty of time to tend to the coffee crop.

Harvest occurs between the months of May through October, of course you have to remember that each cherry ripens on its own time, so the tree needs to be gone over several times before all of the harvest has been picked. This is the perfect scenerio to show why Peruvian coffee can be so good! Small plots and tedious labor intensive work done properly makes for a perfect cup time and time again.

Dominican Republic Coffee
This Dominican Republic coffee displays a well balanced complexity and uniformity with a rich full taste, medium body and a pleasant acidity. You will find these "special beans" brew up a fine gourmet Caribbean coffee.

"The Treasure of the Caribbean" and "the best kept secret in coffee" are a few prized descriptions of coffee from the Dominican Republic—and for good reason. Coffee is part of everyday life in the Dominican Republic, and they celebrate their commitment to its quality. Approximately 500,000 people in the Dominican depend on coffee to make a living, yet many of these individuals live in poverty. Still, the tradition of growing quality coffee has been passed down from every generation for hundreds of years. Most Dominican coffee is grown on small farms, and is cultivated especially well due to the superior growing conditions of the island.

The climate here is different than any other coffee region in the Americas. Because of the warm ocean currents and trade winds, along with the rainfall that occurs year-round, the Dominican Republic produces a consistent coffee bean. The soils of the limestone and granite mountain ranges, where the coffee beans are grown, give Dominican specialty coffee its unique taste.

All specialty coffee, like "Bani Especiale," is picked by hand, wet processed, washed in fresh water, and then spread out to dry under the Caribbean sun, where the coffee beans are turned by hand to ensure even drying.

Hawaiian Kona "Volcanic Estate" Coffee
Being that Hawaii is the only US state that grows coffee, they certainly made their mark by having one of the top specialty coffees in the world.

Kona volcanic estate coffee is grown on the lower slopes of Mauna Loa, a volcano in the western district of the island. One of the biggest struggles Kona faces is supply and demand. Space for cultivating coffee is tight competing with the high traffic volume of tourists on the island. Despite the limited space to grow Kona, only about 3000 acres produce this coffee, Kona produces the highest yield of any Arabica in the world at about 2000lbs per acre. Compare that to the Latin America average of 500-800lbs per acre and it is astounding that in such limited space they can maintain such high quality and high quantity coffee. A lot of that has to do with the reason we all love Hawaii, the weather.

Blessed with the local phenomenon of "free shade", the trees have a rest from the sun everyday about 2pm when the afternoon clouds roll in. With the perfect mixture of sun and rain, and with no risk of frost, these trees excel in this climate.

Originally brought in from Brazil in the 1800's, the cuttings were introduced to Hawaii by Reverend Samuel Ruggles during his missionary work there. The initial planting of theses trees was extremely labor intensive, being on the slope of the volcano, but well worth the work since almost all of the trees planted above 300 feet are disease resistant. All Kona Volcanic Estate coffee is grown at 800-2500 feet, but the very porous volcanic soil seems to produce the same amazing results as if coffee grown at much higher altitudes.Once the highest price coffee in the world, prices for now have now moderated. Kona coffee Volcanic Estate is still one of the worlds most sought after coffees. This cup produces and extremely well balanced brew, clear in flavor with a smooth buttery body. There is also a gentle vibrancy that is complimented by notes of milk chocolate and fruit.

Organic Slawesi "Port Icewik" Fair Trade Coffee
You haven't had coffee until you've had Sulawesi Port Icewik. That's a pretty bold statement, but we stand behind it! This coffee is rare in every sense of the word and is one of those that you must take advantage of when, and if, you see it.

Grown in the most remote coffee growing regions on the planet, just getting to this coffee plot in the jungle takes at least 4 days from the nearest city! Motorcycle, horseback, and finally trekking through the deep jungle forest will lead you to coffee trees that are the true essence of nature. These trees typically produce not only small beans, but also a small yield, less than 150 kilos per acre, which means that there are extremely limited in quantities. This Port Icewik gourmet coffee is grown under a blanket of virgin jungle, natures umbrella if you will, that protects the coffee trees and makes coffee extremely sustainable in this remote area.

This coffee has been genetically tested, and we have found that the trees are direct descendants of the original cultivated trees in Yemen. A Dutchman named Icewik, who risked his life to deliver the crop to the island of Sulawesi, single-handedly took these trees from Java. After being planted on what must have been at the time a small farm; the jungle soon took over, and the farm was deserted. However, in this secret garden, the unattended trees continued to grow and mature over 400 years.
There is nothing like Sulawesi Port Icewik coffee in the world.
